How Do You Find Peace of Mind?

I read somewhere that “[h]e who ascends to mountain-tops shall find [t]he loftiest peaks most wrapt in clouds and snow…” (Lord Byron) and I heard an internal voice one morning say, “there are mountains on mountains.” I suppose that’s why I keep returning to my spiritual mind. It is my solitude to write and it furthers a peace of mind.

Now, I know it’s true a peace of mind can be developed anywhere regardless of place, but there are certain specific ingredients that further the tranquility when a person’s soul is spiritually fed.

There are some good things to be said about having a writing ambition, but there’s more to be said about thirst for success without recognition. My desire to infiltrate the industry with books is not for pure selfish gain although it fulfills my existence more than most other accomplishments.

It is not to be compared to the types of ambition that can be considered not so good and if the direction a person takes is way too restricted for friendships along the way, it’s not a great thing. If the drive is too bent for the giving or receiving of love, or too rocky from knowing what an honest mind should deliver as well as receive, then it is too bent on a certain power which only utilizes the minds of others for pure selfish gain. If it is too dim to welcome a state of mind that is one of content and gratification and compassion, it is not a good thing. The climb up certain mountains can be the most highly exalted one, which can be even greater than the climbs involved with those who are too self-absorbed and seek only their selfish power. It can be done with honor and sweet aspiration and kind purpose. To be rapturous is to experience the thrill of making it to the top of one of these mountains and to look down to see all the experiences that helped the makings of a goal or a dream come alive.

The mountain I speak of is just one of a few and each of them takes a good deal of perseverance and patience. There can be no real peace of mind within a person who is steadfast on destroying another person to attain his or her own selfish moment of glory. It could only then become a lonely view from the top. This has been proven throughout history where a mind will elevate the mind of another only to utilize it for a selfish stroll to further power. The disagreement with this act is to be debated if the results produced something good. Additionally, greed should not be the reason to give up or refrain from the much loftier climb up any mountain.

If there was a room full of three dozen writers or so, one could presume that each and every one of them would want to conquer the world with their words, that they all want to be extremely successful. Perhaps a handful might accomplish their dreams and go on to make a vast bundle to retire on. Perhaps one would begin a periodical publication in a major city or another maybe to own a printing company. If one were to speculate on whom would be favorable enough to fit into each groove, that one person should be wise enough to uncover in his or her mind that luck would have absolutely nothing to do with it. This is, of course, my own personal view as I feel that luck is a word that is misconstrued and overly misused since I believe everything is based on cause and effect.

Still, if the persons described above were to achieve their goals in doing what was stated, there would be those who would suggest that they must have had good luck. If the publisher fails, then it would be said it was a case of bad luck. It seems with some positive circumstances the “good luck” notion would be applied and if it were a negative circumstance, the “bad luck” would be stamped on it. If the handful of writers were all published, it is more probable that they practiced good judgment along their respective pathways, and with the unsuccessful publisher, it was a matter of bad judgment. If the wanna-be-writer continues to be diligent with the desire to produce words on paper, there is already a form of success. Also, if the same writer possesses integrity and is passionate about the task and very patient, there is a greater chance of success. No, it is not luck, it is the act of diligence and a character filled with determination.

This writer will pursue the writer’s dream and be unchanging from the inception. This writer will go without meals at times, pass up on sleep and refrain from having too much of a social life. This writer will stay up late to edit chapters and rise early to begin new ones. This writer has sweet ambition and always aims high. There is, of course, the view that one either beats the odds or doesn’t. The task involves knowing how to reach and touch readers and then finding the right individual to believe in what the writer is trying to communicate and sometimes knowing how to make the reading audience “feel.”

To those who hold ambition in one hand and the desire for success in the other, let us hope they are warm and passionate individuals. True success, in my view, comes from a good deal of perseverance and belief and patience. The good writer will continue to perfect the craft without the selfish goal of recognition. The successful writer will never be greatly disturbed by life as it is the contents of such that gives to the creation of one’s calling to have the ability and awareness to know words and the creativity to communicate such words most effectively. A good writer produces the right words, similar to finding a reasonable, good-natured and kind-hearted friend, which is finding a reward in life that is better than the type of success found by most self-absorbed human beings.

The best things that are acquired in life should be obtained through a good deal of courtesy too. It is within a polite heart a much sweeter success. One should not expect any form of wealth without a good deal of exertion.

Whatever routes one decides upon to perform tasks to accomplish a goal, care should be taken to stay on task. If there are sad or trying moments, which distract one from staying on course, have ongoing perseverance until those moments have dissipated, as they surely will in time. It is important to tend to the specific task painstakingly to become very successful in it or with it or until he or she reaches an honest point in time wherein the knowledge and awareness is acquired that it may possibly be the wrong task. Also, a task cannot be adequately perfected if one is trying to do too many at one time. Additionally, success, like losing weight, is better if it comes to a being in a slow manner.

Do not be idle or lose attention. Keep focused on whatever it is to be achieved and in the long run, a very good result will be won. Concentration is at the top of the list in helping you achieve peace of mind, goals, and dreams.
